Unlike its
Krautrock namesake, the Aram Gallery’s new Kraft Work show eschews the world of computers in favour of analogue materials – cardboard and paper.
Pia Wustenberg, Ful Light 1 2012
The show will feature works created either completely or mostly from paper or card, including furniture, homeware and jewellery.
Maggie Bunzl, Three Sentiels 2007
The
range of works on show aims to prove how versatile these materials are,
and how their use extends far beyond prototyping and sketching for
final pieces.

Iain
Howlett’s Bark side table, for instance, has a look of strength and
durability belying the usual flimsy connotations of its materials:
Will Shannon’s rock-like Luna Table also gives the impression of heftiness and strength:

Among the other pieces that caught our eye are these cute, bright works by Debbie Wijskamp:

Among the other designers showing are Cottrell & Vermeulen, El Ultimo Grito and Javier Mariscal.
Villa Julia, Javier Mariscal Magis 2009
Kraft Work runs from 21 February – 12 April at the Aram Gallery, 110 Drury Lane (Near Aldwych) Covent Garden
