Final Presentation

Well the projects finished and handed in today; here's how it looks- four separate booklets on each area of the trend; Materials, Texture, Colour and Pattern. They're presented in the style of ration books to show how our recession troubles are similar if not as dire to rationing during the war, inspired by the 100th Anniversary of WW1. As the trend is all about using whats available and restoration into unique bespoke style pieces, I feel this idea works well.

All books contained in war tin

UK banking reforms: What's new?

When will we know that the UK has truly put the financial crisis behind it? Maybe when we stop being so fascinated by everything and anything about Britain's banks.

Synopsis

I've managed to shorten my trend brief into a synopsis; at last.

{Refine Flawed}-

Standing on the edge of uncertainty known as recession, we seek ways to simplify our lives whilst still retaining a sense of identity. Unsure of which way it will turn; whether it’s finally at an end or not. Because of this we must continue conserving our assets for a while longer.
We’re not at rock bottom yet though, so why not do as our ancestors did in their time of crisis- Make Do & Mend! Let’s do it in style, think shabby chic with an urban twist; raw materials, dull metallic all with a worn quality. Handmade with attitude adds for a bespoke feel. Distressed is best, antique is unique and flawed is the new refinement of today.

Surface Design Show 2013

Went to the Surface show yesterday and found lots of great materials and textures that go with my trend. I was able to get some photos that I can use within my ration books, I was also able to get some material samples too- perfect for first hand research!
